The Pro League game week 6 started with an early kick-off in the capital between Al Dhafra and Ittihad Kalba under the slogan ‘Expo 2020 Dubai’.
Both these teams are almost identical when it comes to points, league position, and head-to-head games; in their last 12 meetings, each team has won 6 times.
With regards to league position, both teams are hovering just above the drop zone; Kalba 12th, Al Dhafra 11th so a win would be a welcome 3 points for either team and a chance to so create some breathing space from the relegation zone.
In the early stages, Al Dhafra dominated and had a number of half-chances to score; however, in the 17th minute, the first goal came against the run of play to Ittihad Kalba from a well-executed corner which was flicked on by Mohammed Subil and poked into the net by Habib Al Fardan.
The rest of the 1st half was a midfield tussle with only one good chance falling to each team but both chances were missed, disappointingly.
The 2nd half started much like the 1st half with Al Dhafra keeping the possession but failing to capitalize that dominance with an equalizer.
However, in the 66th minute, the pressure finally paid off for Al Dhafra when the substitute Hamdan Mohammed score a fine goal with a def-headed into the bottom corner for the equalizer.
The result means both teams stay in the same positions for the time being and depending on other match results later.
