Al Wasl win the local derby and deprive Shabab Al Ahli of the lead

The last game for Tuesday’s midweek matches for the ADNOC Pro League game week 6 was a local derby in the heart of Dubai; Al Wasl Vs Shabab Al Ahli at the Zabeel Stadium.

These two teams have encountered each other a massive 24 times with Shabab having the better results; 11 wins compared to Al Wasl’s 7.

The early exchanges in the first half between these two teams were far and few between, however, the first real chance fell to the home side after some good interplay between Fabio, Ramiro and Michel Araujo but the latter fail to take the chance created.

The next chance for Al Wasl fell to Ramiro after some great play from Fabio Lima in the 17th minute when he had a golden opportunity but hit his shot wide.

The best opportunity for Shabab was in the 47th minute after some late pressure from the visitors when Mehdi Ghayedi had a shot on goal, but Ibrahim Al Essa produced a fine save.

The 2nd half didn’t really produce any clear-cut chances for either team and was mainly played in the centre of the field for the first 20 minutes.

Finally, in the 71st minute, the home side produced a moment of magic with some lovely play between Ramiro, William Pottker and the goal scorer Michel Araujo for his 2nd goal of the season to put his team 1-0 up with 20 minutes left to play.

After this result, Al Wasl move up to 6th in the table and Shabab Al Ahli stay in 4th.
