Al Wahda steal a point from Al Ain in the dying minutes of El Classico

The most anticipated encounter of ADNOC Pro League’s sixth match-week held under the slogan “Expo 2020 Dubai”, was obviously El Classico between the two giants Al Ain and Al Wahda at Hazza Bin Zayed stadium, that ended with both teams sharing the game’s points.

 

 

The game started off at a quick tempo with both teams creating half chances; the best of them falling to The Boss who could have scored as early as the 7th minute when Guanca had a one-on-one with the Al Wahda goalkeeper but Mohammed Al Shamsi managed to pull off a fine save.

 

 

The first half, ended goalless with most of the game being played out in the midfield while very few clear-cut chances were produced.

 

 

The 2nd half started off with Kodjo Laba getting an early opportunity, but his shot found only the side netting.

 

 

In the 56th minute, Joao Pedro had his first real opening on the Al Ain goal but Al Ain goalkeeper lived up to the occasion making a wonderful save.

 

 

Finally, in the 65th minute after some wonderful work from Kodjo Laba on the right flank, as he skillfully maneuvered his way into the penalty box before handing the ball to Soufian Rahimi on a silver plate as the Moroccan side-footed the ball into the net for his second goal of the season.

 

 

The second half finished in dramatic fashion when Al Wahda were awarded a penalty in the 97-minute for a foul committed against Omar Khirbin who then stepped up and fired the ball into the net scoring his 3rd goal of the season.

 

 

Al Ain stay on top of the table with 14 points; 1 point clear of Al Jazira, whereas Al Wahda move to eighth in the standings.
