Ajman upset all odds scoring three goals in the last eleven minutes against Sharjah and earn a deserving quarter-finals spot in the Pro League Cup, on Monday.
Down 0-3 just after the one-hour mark, visiting Ajman scored three goals at the fag end of the match for a hard-fought 3-3 draw for a 5-5 aggregate and cement an entry into the quarter-finals on the away goals rule.
Going in with honours even following their 2-2 draw in the away encounter earlier this month, Sharjah had to rely on a timely brace from Ben Malango to cruise to a sound 2-0 lead.
And then, Otabek Shukurov added a third one minute after the hour to make it 3-0.
Not ones to give up, Ajman fought their way back late into the match with Bubacarr Trawally of Gambia making it 3-1 in the 79th minute, and then Abdullah Saleh came up with a diving header four minutes later to bring in some excitement for the match.
The visitors were far from finished as a low shot from Bilal Yousef found the far corner of the Sharjah net to make it 3-3 in the 89th minute, and advance to the next stages on the away goals rule despite ending 5-5 on aggregate.
