Nicolas Gimenez scored a late goal to secure a 1-0 win for Al Wasl over Al Jazira in the first leg of the ADIB Cup's semi-final on Monday.
The goalless draw lasted during the 90 minutes until Gimenez netted a crucial goal for Al Wasl following an error from goalkeeper Stojan Lekovic.
Nine minutes into the game, Vinicius Mello had put Al Jazira ahead, but the goal was disallowed due to an offside.
Fifteen minutes before the break, Ali Saleh fired a sublime strike, but Stojan Lekovic was the hero as he parried the shot out.
The shining moment was in the 90th when an error from goalkeeper Stojan Lekovic allowed Nicolas Gimenez to poke the rebound into the back of the net.
The second leg will take place on Saturday, March 22nd at Mohammad Bin Zayed Stadium.
