Sharjah extended their winning streak in the 2024-2025 ADNOC Pro League with a 2-1 win over Al Orooba at Khalid Bin Mohammed Stadium during Matchweek 5.
This marks Sharjah’s fifth consecutive victory, keeping them at the top of the league standings with 15 points. Al Orooba, on the other hand, remain without a point.
The match remained goalless in the first half, with limited chances for both sides.
Sharjah came close to scoring in the 21st minute when Luan Pereira’s strike was saved by the Al Orooba goalkeeper.
Al Orooba also threatened just before halftime with a quick attack, but Petrus Boumal’s shot narrowly missed the target.
Sharjah finally broke the deadlock in the 58th minute when Caio Lucas converted a penalty, putting his team in the lead.
Al Orooba faced a setback shortly after when Appolinaire Kack was shown a red card, reducing them to 10 men.
Sharjah quickly capitalized, and Caio Lucas struck again from the penalty spot in the 69th minute to double Sharjah’s lead.
Caio’s contributions have been outstanding this season, with 11 goal involvements (6 goals and 5 assists) in just 8 matches across all competitions.
He also has a strong record against Al Orooba, scoring five goals against them in the Pro League.
Despite being a man down, Al Orooba pulled one back in the 84th minute with a goal from Abdulla Anwar.
However, Sharjah held firm to secure the 2-1 victory and maintain their place at the top of the standings.
