Al Nasr pulled off a thrilling 4-3 comeback win against Al Bataeh in Matchweek 6 of the ADNOC Pro League at Khalid bin Mohammed Stadium.
Despite falling behind multiple times, Al Nasr showed resilience and determination, earning three crucial points that lifted them to fourth place with 12 points.
Al Bataeh, however, remain in 12th place with 4 points after letting their lead slip away.
Al Bataeh took the lead early with a penalty goal in the 9th minute. Mohammed Juma Eid initially stepped up to take the spot-kick, but his attempt was saved by Al Nasr goalkeeper Ahmed Shambih.
VAR, however, ordered a retake as Shambih had moved off his line.
This time, Álvaro de Oliveira converted the penalty, marking his 15th Pro League goal.
Al Bataeh’s strong start was disrupted in the 23rd minute when Mohammed Juma Eid received a red card, leaving the hosts with 10 men.
But even a man down, Al Bataeh continued to push forward.
In the 43rd minute, Anatole Bertrand doubled their lead with a precise finish from a clever pass by Ulrich Sidoine, leaving Al Nasr trailing 2-0 at halftime.
Al Nasr made changes at the break.
They pulled one back in the 49th minute through a powerful header from Manolo Gabbiadini.
Al Nasr intensified their attacks, coming close to leveling the score in the 53rd minute, but Ali Mabkhout’s header narrowly missed the target.
Just when it seemed the momentum was shifting, Al Bataeh struck again.
In the 66th minute, Borges scored with a towering header to extend the lead to 3-1, stunning Al Nasr once more.
Al Nasr refused to give up, and in the 73rd minute, luck played a part as an own goal from Al Bataeh defender Saeed Juma made it 3-2.
With renewed belief, Al Nasr kept pressing, and Ali Mabkhout found the equalizer in the 81st minute, finishing off a well-worked attack to make it 3-3.
The drama didn’t stop there. Deep into stoppage time, Al Nasr won a penalty, giving Mabkhout the chance to complete the comeback.
Similar to the first half, the penalty had to be retaken after the initial attempt was canceled by VAR.
Mabkhout made no mistake on the second try, scoring the winner to seal an incredible 4-3 victory.
