Laba Kodjo stole the spotlight with a spectacular hat-trick as Al Ain defeated Al Jazira 3-1 in Matchweek 10 of the ADNOC Pro League at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium.
The Togolese striker’s dominant display helped Al Ain climb to 18 points, overtaking Al Jazira, who remain on 17 after a hard-fought.
The match began with Al Jazira controlling the tempo and creating better chances, while it came alive in the second half when Nabil Fekir opened the scoring in the 56th minute.
The French playmaker capped off a brilliant team move to give Al Jazira the lead, marking his fourth goal involvement in his last four ADNOC Pro League matches.
Laba Kodjo, however, had other plans. The Al Ain striker equalized in the 63rd minute, pouncing on a loose ball inside the penalty area.
Just six minutes later, he put his team ahead with a commanding header from a well-placed cross by Kaku.
Kodjo completed his hat-trick in the 85th minute, rising above the defense to meet a precise delivery from Bander Al-Ahbabi, sealing a statement victory for Al Ain.
Kodjo’s performance was historic. He became the first player this season to score a hat-trick of headers in a single ADNOC Pro League match and extended his extraordinary record against Al Jazira, netting 13 goals in his last six games against them.
Impressively, Kodjo has scored 10 of Al Ain’s last 15 league goals.
