Al Ain edged strugglers Bani Yas 3-2 in a riveting clash on Friday at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium.
Bani Yas have started the game strongly and took the lead after 23 minutes when Y. Niakaté was teed up inside the box by Suhail Ahmed Alnoobi as the former drilled the ball into the back of the net with a senstional finish.
Alejandro Romero restored the parity for the hosts with a left-footed strike into the top corner seven minutes before the break.
Kouame Autonne turned the game on its head and put Al Ain ahead after smashing the net with an unstoppable strike past goalkeeper, who had no option except watching it hitting his net.
Four minutes after the hour-mark, Hussain Abbas' own goal cemented Al Ain's lead as he inadvertently turned Soufian Rahimi's cross into his net.
Ahmed Shehda Abunamous reduced the deficit and made it 3-2 when he climbed above Al Ain's defense to thump a brilliant header into the back of the net.
