In a thrilling face-off on Saturday evening at the Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, Al Jazira bagged a valuable 3-1 win over visiting Al Bataeh, in a match counting for matchweek four of the ADNOC Pro League.
Al Jazira found the breakthrough and took the lead in the 19th minute when Al Ejandro Pozuelo sent a perfect pass inside the box to Abdalla Ramadan who fired a powerful shot into the far post of the net, making it 1-0.
Al Bataeh made it 1-1 before heading to the dressing rooms for the break when Eissa Ahmed sent a low pass to Brazilian star Paulo Henrique, who rounded a defender and smashed an excellent effort past Ali Khaseif.
The second half saw Al Jazira vehemently reject the prospect of a draw, enhancing their offensive exploits to tilt the game in their favor. A meticulously crafted 53rd-minute goal by Al Ejandro Pozuelo, following a nuanced assist from Abdulla Idrees, re-established their lead amidst an evidently deflating Al Bataeh side.
During the prolonged battle into injury time, Al Bataeh’s Henrique received a red card at 90+3 minutes. Taking advantage of the numerical advantage, Oumar Traore finessed a third goal into Al Bataeh’s net in the 93rd minute, conclusively sealing the win for Al Jazira.
