Al Jazira Secures 3-1 Win Against Al Bataeh in ADIB Cup

Al Jazira claimed a 3-1 win against Al Bataeh in the first leg of the ADIB Cup Gameweek 1, held at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium. The home side took control early and never looked back, securing a strong advantage ahead of the second leg.

R. Mierez opened the scoring for Al Jazira in the 6th minute, capitalizing on a defensive error by Al Bataeh to slot the ball into the net with a stunning strike.

Mierez had another opportunity to score in the 17th minute with a header but narrowly missed. However, his teammate Neeskens Kebano doubled the lead for Al Jazira in the 26th minute, converting a penalty after Zayed Sultan was fouled in the box.

Al Bataeh responded in the 33rd minute when Cameroonian forward Anatole Bertrand scored from a precise cross by Mohamed Jumaa Eid. This marked Bertrand's third goal in his last six matches across the ADNOC Pro League and the ADIB Cup.

Despite Al Bataeh’s efforts, Al Jazira maintained their dominance. Just before halftime, Al Bataeh’s goalkeeper Darwish Mohammad denied Al Jazira a third goal, making a crucial save from Bruno Oliveira's close-range shot.

In the second half, Al Jazira extended their lead when Mamadou Coulibaly found the net with a powerful strike from outside the box in the 64th minute, sealing the win and giving Al Jazira a comfortable advantage heading into the second leg in September at Khalid bin Mohammed Stadium.
