Al Nasr made a powerful start to their 2024-2025 ADNOC Pro League campaign, overwhelming Al Orooba with a 5-1 win at the Dibba Stadium on Friday.
This victory marks Al Nasr's first opening-matchweek win since the 2016-2017 season when they defeated Al Dhafra 4-2. Impressively, this 5-1 scoreline stands as Al Nasr’s largest-ever win in an opening match of the competition.
From the first whistle, Al Nasr asserted control over the game, dominating the midfield and launching a series of dangerous attacks. Their efforts quickly paid off in the 8th minute when Adel Taarabt fired an unstoppable strike into the net from the edge of the penalty area after receiving a well-placed pass from Moussa Ndiaye.
The early goal fueled Al Nasr’s attacking momentum, and in the 20th minute, they doubled their lead. This time, the roles were reversed—Taarabt turned provider, setting up Ndiaye, who finished clinically to make it 2-0.
In the 59th minute, Marouan Azarkan added a third goal, becoming the 10th Dutch player to score in the ADNOC Pro League. Al Orooba managed to pull one back in the 68th minute through Bobker Trawally, but Al Nasr quickly responded. Taarabt found the net again in the 73rd minute, extending the lead to 4-1.
As the match drew to a close, Al Nasr continued to press, and in stoppage time, Manolo Gabbiadini capped off the dominant performance with a fifth goal in the 92nd minute. The final whistle confirmed a resounding 5-1 victory for Al Nasr, setting a high standard for the season ahead.
