Ten-man Al Wahda came from behind to beat Al Orooba 4-2 on Friday at the beginning of matchweek 14 of the ADNOC Pro League at Bani Yas Stadium.
Al Wahda suffered an early blow as goalkeeper Mohammed Al Shamsi was shown his marching orders following a VAR review, leaving his side a man short after just 12 minutes.
Al Orooba took advantage of their numerical superiority as midfielder Saeed Obaid unleashed a powerful right-footed shot from inside the penalty box following a swift attacking move to give his team an early lead.
Substitute goalkeeper Rashed Ali saved Khalid Yahya's 39th minute attempt, limiting the damage before the break.
Whatever coach Gregory Dufrennes said at half time, worked magic for the home side as Al Wahda returned to the pitch with vigour and forward Omar Khrbin equalised within ten minutes of the restart following an Ismael Matar corner.
Matar took his corner deliveries to the next level in the 67th minute, finding the back of the net straight from the corner to put Al Wahda in front for the first time on the night.
Al Orooba restored parity after a pass by Appolinaire Kack was received by Ali Madan, who converted it home with ten mintues to go.
Kharbin turned from scorer to creator, setting up a cross for Joao Pedro to head home in the 83rd minute.
Former Leicester City midfielder Adrien Silva cemented his side's victory in the 90th minute, converting home from the penalty spot.
