Al Wasl defeated Al Ain 4-2 in an exciting rescheduled matchweek 20 match of the ADNOC Pro League at Hazza bin Zayed Stadium. This historic win marks the first time Al Wasl has defeated Al Ain both home and away in the Pro League.
Al Wasl’s goals were scored by Soufiane Bouftini in the 6th minute, Caio Canedo with two goals in the 19th and 60th minutes, and Fabio De Lima in the 40th minute. Al Ain's Yongwoo Park scored in the 69th minute, and Soufian Rahimi added another goal in the 84th minute.
This win extends Al Wasl’s impressive record, securing their 20th win of the season and keeping them at the top of the standings with 64 points. Al Ain remain in third place with 42 points from 23 matches.
The match began with Al Wasl taking an early lead when Soufiane Bouftini headed in a set-piece delivered by Fabio De Lima in the 6th minute.
A defensive mistake from Al Ain allowed Caio Canedo to score the second goal in the 19th minute. Canedo has now scored six goals in 10 appearances against Al Ain in the Pro League.
Fabio De Lima extended the lead to 3-0 in the 40th minute, receiving a through ball from Caio Canedo, dribbling past Al Ain's goalkeeper Khalid Eisa, and slotting the ball into the net.
Lima nearly scored a fourth goal from a free kick just before halftime, but Khalid Eisa made a crucial save. Al Ain's challenge grew tougher when Abdulkarim Trawri was sent off after a VAR review.
Al Ain began the second half with an aggressive approach despite being a man down. However, Al Wasl capitalized on the open spaces, with Caio Canedo scoring his second goal in the 60th minute from another assist by Fabio De Lima.
Khalid Eisa made multiple saves to deny Al Wasl a fifth goal, but Al Ain managed to reduce the deficit with Yongwoo Park scoring in the 69th minute and Soufian Rahimi adding another in the 84th minute.
