M. Ben Alarbi netted twice as Ajman edged out Bani Yas 3-2 in a dramatic and fluctuating ADNOC Pro League game at Bani Yas Stadium on Thursday.
Waleed Azaro found the breakthrough and took the lead after 17 minutes when he tapped in the rebound after Ali Madan's first attempt was saved by goalkeeper Fahad Aldhanhani.
The visitors were awarded a penalty kick in the stoppage time of the first half, as M. Ben Alarbi stepped up and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to cement his side's lead.
Ben Alarbi grabbed his brace in the fifth minute of the first half's additional time when Ali Madan teed up the Tunisian midfielder inside the box as he kept his composure and drilled the ball into the back of the net.
Eleven minutes after the break, Bani Yas pulled one back when Saile Souza fired a powerful strike from outside the box into the bottom corner.
A minute before the hour-mark, Opa Nguette reduced the deficit and made it 2-3 when he met Gastón Suarez's low cross with a clinical finish from close range.
The result means Ajman sit sixth with 32 points, while Bani Yas are tenth with 19 points.
