Ittihad Kalba achieved a hard-fought 1-0 win over Al Ain in matchweek 23 of the ADNOC Pro League on Thursday evening at Khalifa bin Zayed Stadium.
Mehdi Ghayedi scored the winning goal for Ittihad Kalba against Al Ain in the 7th minute of the first half. With this result, Ittihad Kalba raised their tally to 24 points, placing them tenth in the league standings, while Al Ain's points remain at 39, securing them the fourth position.
Ittihad Kalba initiated the match with strong offensive tactics, pressing hard from the first minute in search of an early lead against Al Ain. Ghayedi's goal came early, as he skillfully found the back of the net after a clear breakaway in the 7th minute.
The match saw a tense moment in the 37th minute when Ittihad Kalba’s player, Filip Kiss, received a red card for a foul on Khalid Mohammed Al Balushi who was advancing towards the goal.
In the second half, Al Ain began aggressively seeking an equalizer, putting considerable pressure on Ittihad Kalba right from the start. Sultan Alshamsi missed a golden opportunity for Al Ain when his attempt was timely intercepted by an Ittihad Kalba player.
Despite several attempts by Al Ain to level the score throughout the second half, all efforts were fruitless up to the final whistle, ending the game in favor of Ittihad Kalba with a 1-0 victory.
