Arabian Gulf League U21 matchweek 2 roundup

Matchweek 2 of the Arabian Gulf League U21 concluded on Sunday with Al Jazira maintaining their position at the top of the standings on goal difference.

 

Three teams managed to get their second win in a row, namely Al Jazira, Ittihad Kalba and Al Ain. Al Jazira top the standings with six points, after defeating Al Dhafra 2-0 at Hamdan Bin Zayed Stadium.

 

The clash between Ittihad Kalba and Ajman saw the hosts earn a 1-0 win to sit second in the standings. Al Ain are third after defeating Shabab Al Ahli 2-1 at Hazaa Bin Zayed Stadium.

 

Three other teams remain unbeaten; Fujairah, Sharjah and Al Wasl. They occupy the positions from fourth to sixth, respectively, with four points each. After drawing their opening match, Fujairah beat guests Bani Yas 4-0 and Sharjah beat Al Wahda 3-1 at Al Nahyan Stadium. Meanwhile, Al Wasl played out a 1-1 draw with Hatta at Zabeel Stadium.

 

After losing their league opener, Al Nasr earned a 3-1 victory against Khorfakkan at Al Maktoum Stadium to sit in seventh place. Ajman remained with three points and currently occupy the eighth position after losing to Kalba.

 

Hatta drew for the second game in a row to raise their tally to two points in ninth place, while Al Wahda lost to Sharjah to occupy the tenth spot with only one point.

 

On the other hand, four teams fell to their second consecutive defeat and have no points so far, namely Shabab Al Ahli, Al Dhafra, Khorfakkan and Bani Yas, who occupy the positions from 11th to 14th, respectively.

 

Al Nasr, Al Ain and Ittihad Kalba earned home wins, while Sharjah, Fujairah and Al Jazira won away from home, and Al Wasl and Hatta game ended in a draw.
