The UAE Pro League announced the winners of the Arabian Gulf League’s Best Monthly Awards for February, powered by Etisalat, the official sponsor of the Arabian Gulf League, after the conclusion of the voting that commenced on Thursday, March 4th.
Al Jazira forward Ali Mabkhout and his Dutch coach Marcel Keizer were voted Player of the Month and Coach of the Month, respectively, while Al Nasr’s Ahmed Shambieh won the Goalkeeper of the Month award for February.
Mabkhout’s fine form in the past month earned him the award after beating off competition from teammate Thulani Serero, Shabab Al Ahli’s Carlos Eduardo, Ryan Mendes of Al Nasr, and Bani Yas’ Joao Pedro.
Shambieh was named the best goalkeeper in February after edging his rivals Fahad Al Dhanhani of Bani Yas and Al Jazira’s Ali Khaseif.
The Coach of the Month Award went to Al Jazira’s Marcel Keizer, after beating off competition from Shabab Al Ahli coach Mahdi Ali and Al Wasl coach Odair Hellmann.
Winners will receive their awards ahead of their teams' respective games in matchweek 20 of the Arabian Gulf League, scheduled to commence on Thursday, March 11th.
The nominees are shortlisted each month based on statistics from global sports data company “OPTA”. The data cover the players’ performances in the Arabian Gulf League only and fans get the opportunity to vote for their favorite candidates through the UAE Pro League official website and the Arabian Gulf League app.
