Final Matchweek: Relegation, AFC Champions League qualification at stake

The curtain is about to come down on the Arabian Gulf League season with teams just one game away from the conclusion of their 26-game campaign, as the final matchweek is set to take place on Tuesday, May 11, with all games kicking off at 22:00.

Besides the thrilling title race, there's still a lot to be decided and plenty of loose ends to be tied in the final matchweek, headlined by the Ajman and Fujairah clash, which could settle the relegation battle. In addition, AFC Champions League qualification is still up for grabs, with Sharjah, Shabab Al Ahli, and Al Nasr battling for an Asian place next season.

Thrilling relegation battle

Fujairah will welcome Ajman at home in a nerve-shredding game, as they are both leveled on 15 points and look to avoid joining already-relegated Hatta in the First Division. Ajman are masters of their destiny and know that a win would seal their survival, regardless of Fujairah's results against Al Wahda in the postponed match, thanks to a superior head-to-head record. On the other hand, Fujairah will be looking to seal the three points to secure survival ahead of their game against Al Wahda.

Fight for AFC Champions League qualification

AFC Champions League qualification is still another major issue at stake. Sharjah occupy the third spot on 48 points, one clear of Shabab Al Ahli, ahead of their away from home clash against Ittihad Kalba in the final round. In addition, Al Maktoum Stadium will host an exciting derby between fourth-placed Shabab Al Ahli and fifth-placed Al Nasr, who are separated by a single point.

The final matchweek will also see Al Ain face Hatta and Al Wasl clash with Al Dhafra, who have very little to play for and will only be seeking to improve their positions on the standings.
