Al Jazira duo Ali Mabkhout and Khalfan Mubarak proved a threat to teams' backlines in the Arabian Gulf League this season, with the former being a goal machine and the latter producing quality assists that guided the Pride of Abu Dhabi to the top of the standings.
Ali Mabkhout: A ruthless finisher
Mabkhout, who tops the Arabian Gulf League goalscoring charts with 24 goals, failed to find the back of the net on the first three matchweeks. He was then on the scoresheet with a brace against Bani Yas in matchweek 4. While he finished off the first half of the season with seven goals, he scored 17 goals so far in the second half of the season. He netted three hat-tricks in matchweeks 15, 16, and 21, raising his tally to 13 career hat-tricks since his first against Al Shabab in 2014. He also netted 23 braces and one super hat-trick.
Khalfan Mubarak: A master creator
Although Mubarak has only five goals to his name this season, he tops the assists charts after registering 10 assists. He also made a total of 49 key passes, which had a huge influence on Al Jazira's offensive performance throughout the league campaign.
