Sharjah returned to winning form with a decisive 4-1 victory over Bani Yas in the opening match of ADNOC Pro League Matchweek 7.
The win boosts Sharjah’s points tally to 18, securing their hold on second place as they chase the top spot.
Bani Yas, meanwhile, remain in ninth place with seven points.
Sharjah’s scoring began early, with Guilherme Sucigan finding the net in the 12th minute.
Luan Pereira then doubled the lead with a penalty in the 43rd minute, followed by Tyrone Conraad in the 81st, and David Petrovic added the final goal in stoppage time.
Bani Yas responded in the 22nd minute with Mats Johan’s powerful header, marking their first headed goal against Sharjah since 2015.
Sharjah took charge from the start, initially finding the net in the third minute through Mohamed M. Ben Alarbi, though the goal was ruled offside due to Caio Lucas being in an offside position.
Sharjah’s relentless pressure soon paid off as Guilherme Sucigan opened the scoring off a skillful assist from Caio, who has now contributed to 11 goals (7 goals, 4 assists) in his last 24 games against Bani Yas.
Bani Yas managed to level the score with Mats Johan’s header in the 22nd minute, but Sharjah retook the lead just before halftime when Luan Pereira confidently converted a penalty to make it 2-1.
In the second half, Sharjah continued to press, with close attempts from Sucigan and Ben Alarbi in the 68th minute.
They extended their lead in the 81st minute when Tyrone Conraad scored off a well-placed header from Shaheen Abdalla, and David Petrovic capped off the night with a fourth goal in the 91st minute, securing a dominant 4-1 win for Sharjah.
