Shabab Al Ahli secured their place in the semi-finals of the AFC Champions League Elite after a thrilling 3–2 victory over Thailand’s Buriram United in the quarter-final clash held this evening at Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Stadium in Jeddah.
The match ended 2–2 in regular time, with Shabab Al Ahli taking the lead through an own goal by Buriram’s Peter Zulj and a strike from Saeid Ezatolahi in the 13th and 49th minutes.
Buriram responded with two goals from Guilherme Campos and Peter Zulj in the 64th and 70th minutes, sending the game into extra time.
In the 93rd minute of the first half of extra time, Renan Victor delivered the decisive moment, netting the winning goal for Shabab Al Ahli to seal a 3–2 victory and confirm their progression to the semi-finals.
Shabab Al Ahli will now face the winner of the tie between Al Wahda and Japan’s Machida Zelvia in the AFC Champions League Elite semi-finals.
