Al Wahda Fight Back From Two Goals Down to Beat Kuwait SC 3-2

Al Wahda made a dramatic start to their 2026-27 AFC Champions League Two campaign after coming from two goals down to beat Kuwait SC 3-2 in their opening Group A match on Wednesday.

Kuwait SC made the stronger start and took the lead after just five minutes through Taha Yassine Khenissi.

The Kuwaiti side doubled their advantage only three minutes later when Oumar Gonzalez scored in the eighth minute, leaving Al Wahda facing a 2-0 deficit early in the contest.

Al Wahda responded in the 23rd minute when Moussa Diarra pulled one back, reducing the deficit to 2-1 before half-time.

The match changed in the 60th minute when Kuwait SC were reduced to 10 men following a red card for Mohamed Marhoon.

Al Wahda pushed forward in search of an equaliser and finally broke through in the 87th minute, with Renne Rivas scoring to make it 2-2.

The hosts then completed the comeback deep into stoppage time. Christian Benteke scored in the seventh minute of added time to seal a dramatic 3-2 win and give Al Wahda all three points.

Al Wahda will next travel to Uzbekistan to face Nasaf in the second round of the group stage as they look to build on their opening victory.
