Bedia Penalty Seals Al Nasr Victory over Al Wahda

Chris Bedia’s second-half penalty proved decisive as Al Nasr edged Al Wahda 1-0 in Matchweek Two of the ADNOC Pro League.

After being held to a 2-2 draw by Kalba in their opening fixture, Al Nasr claimed their first victory of the season with a disciplined performance in a tightly contested encounter.

Neither side was able to take control during a cagey opening half, with clear-cut opportunities at a premium as both teams remained organised defensively.

With little separating the sides, the first half ended goalless, leaving the contest finely poised heading into the break.

Al Nasr returned for the second half with greater purpose and needed only nine minutes to find the breakthrough.

Bedia was handed the opportunity to open the scoring from the penalty spot in the 54th minute, and the Ivorian striker made no mistake, calmly sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to put Al Nasr 1-0 ahead.

The goal changed the complexion of the contest, with Al Wahda forced to push forward in search of an equaliser while Al Nasr looked to protect their narrow advantage.

Al Nasr held firm for the remainder of the match, showing the defensive resilience required to see out the result and secure all three points.

The victory takes Al Nasr to four points from their opening two matches, following up their opening-round draw with a hard-earned first win of the campaign, while Al Wahda remain without a point after suffering back-to-back defeats in their first two matches.
