The opening day saw defending champions Shabab Al Ahli defeat guests Emirates 3-0 courtesy of goals by Sultan Fayez, Malick Sylla, and Abdulaziz Mohamed. Al Wahda beat Al Orooba 3-1, thanks to goals from Salem Abdulla, Hamdan Adel, and Ismail Al Zaabi, while Ali Khamis scored the guests' only goal. Ali Khalifa netted late to help Ajman snatch a late 1-0 victory against Al Nasr.
The action continued on Saturday, as Al Dhafra played out a goalless draw with Al Jazira, and Bani Yas defeated Al Wasl 2-0 thanks to goals from Abdulaziz Al Hammadi and Khalil Al Breiki.
Ittihad Kalba and Sharjah played out a 2-2 draw with Saeed Al Kaabi netting a brace for the guests and Yaser Alblooshi and Ayman Rchoq scoring for the home side. Al Ain concluded the opening matchweek with a 5-0 thrashing of Khorfakkan, courtesy of goals by Eisa Khalfan, Mohamed Awad (brace), Ali Al Blooshi, and Jonatas Santos.
