Mateus Lima struck deep into stoppage time as Shabab Al Ahli snatched a dramatic 1-1 draw against Al Nasr in gameweek two of the ADIB Cup.
Al Nasr made the stronger start and opened the scoring after just 11 minutes through Ajdin Hrustic.
Kevin Andres Agudelo collected the ball in midfield before driving towards the penalty area and squaring it into Hrustic’s path, with the midfielder making no mistake as he swept his finish into the back of the net.
Al Nasr looked set to hold on for victory, but Shabab Al Ahli continued to push for an equaliser and were finally rewarded in the fifth minute of stoppage time.
Juan Alvina delivered an inviting cross into the penalty area, where Mateus Lima rose brilliantly to power a header into the net and rescue a point for his side.
The late equaliser denied Al Nasr a return to winning ways, while Shabab Al Ahli recorded their second successive draw and remain in search of their first victory of the competition.
Al Nasr will look to bounce back when they face Hatta on Thursday, October 8, while Shabab Al Ahli will continue their pursuit of a first win when they take on United on the same day.
