UAE Pro League magazine: An overview on Arabian Gulf Super Cup

The UAE Pro League released a magazine on the sidelines of the Arabian Gulf Super Cup match between Sharjah and Shabab Al Ahli, which will be held on January 22nd at Al Nasr Club’s Al Maktoum Stadium under the slogan of “Our Winter is Super”. It coincides with the “World’s Coolest Winter” initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, which aims to promote domestic tourism in the UAE during winter, while exploring the beautiful natural, geographical and historical treasures in all regions of the UAE and highlighting the distinctive features and characteristics of each emirate.

The magazine’s opening statement saw UAE Pro League chairman Abdulla Naser Al-Jneibi highlight the importance of the Arabian Gulf Super Cup, saying it holds special significance this year in light of the challenges, which the UAE Pro League has overcome for the return of football amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Al-Jneibi added, “the UAE Pro League decided to adopt the "Our Winter is Super" slogan, as we seek to hold a match that highlights our love for our nation and its bright image after the UAE became the center of the world’s attention, thanks to its pioneering role in all fields and its ability to bring people from all over the world together on the land of tolerance, love and safety, in accordance with the directives of the wise leadership who inspire us towards creativity and excellence.”

Al-Jneibi wished the best of luck for both teams, and said, “we are confident that Sharjah and Shabab Al Ahli will put in a good game worthy of this great occasion and will compete for the title while displaying a brotherly sporting spirit.”

The magazine included statistics about both teams ahead of the first title in the 2021 season, as well as facts and data about the previous 12 Arabian Gulf Super Cup editions in the professional era. In addition, the magazine included an overview of the Al Maktoum Stadium, Sharjah coach Abdulaziz AlAnbari, Shabab Al Ahli coach Mahdi Ali, the goalkeepers and key players at both sides and highlighted the unprecedented initiatives and prizes organized by the UAE Pro League on the sidelines of the Super Cup match.
