The UAE Pro League has announced the nominees for the Arabian Gulf League monthly awards, powered by Etisalat, the official sponsor of the Arabian Gulf League, in the Best Player, Best Goalkeeper and Best Coach categories for the month of October.
The shortlist for the Best Player award includes Bani Yas’ Brazilian forward Joao Pedro and Argentine midfielder Nicolás Giménez, Shabab Al Ahli’s Uzbek midfielder Aziz Ganiev, Ismail Matar from Al Wahda and Caio Lucas of Sharjah.
Joao Pedro has four goals to his name as he opened the scoring against Al Wasl, netted a brace against Fujairah and scored a goal in his side’s 5-0 win over Khorfakkan. His teammate Giménez netted a goal against each of Al Wasl and Fujairah and scored from the spot against Khorfakkan.
Aziz Ganiev netted the equalizer for Shabab Al Ahli against Al Wahda and assisted a goal in his side’s clash with Al Ain. Meanwhile, Ismail Matar scored from the spot against Hatta before netting an impressive goal against Shabab Al Ahli. He also has two assists to his name in October.
Sharjah’s Caio assisted twice, in addition to scoring a penalty in the dying minutes of his side’s game with Fujairah and scoring another goal against Al Ain.
In the Best Goalkeeper category, Al Dhafra’s Khalid Al Senani is joined by Majed Nasser from Shabab Al Ahli and Ahmed Shambieh from Al Nasr. Al Senani conceded three goals in the first three games and Nasser kept one clean sheet and conceded two goals, while Shambieh had two clean sheets and conceded only one goal against Al Jazira.
Meanwhile, Bani Yas manager Daniel Isaila is nominated for the Best Coach category alongside Abdulaziz Al Anberi of Sharjah and Aleksandar Veselinovic of Al Dhafra. The Sky Blues and the King earned the full points from their first three games, while Al Dhafra defeated Ajman and Fujairah and drew with Al Jazira.
Voting for the three categories has opened at 11:30am on Friday, November 6th, on the Arabian Gulf League website and continues for 24 hours. After which, winners will be announced through the official UAE PL social media channels and will receive their awards ahead of their respective sides’ matches in the next matchweek of the Arabian Gulf League.
