Al Maktoum Stadium to host Arabian Gulf Super Cup on January 22

The UAE Pro League Technical Committee announced that the Arabian Gulf Super Cup match between Sharjah and Shabab Al Ahli will be held on Friday, January 22nd, and will kick off at 8pm at Al Nasr Club’s Al Maktoum Stadium.

The first competition of the new season will be special and different at all levels, including the promotional campaigns that will be announced in the upcoming days, as well as the special coverage that will be launched ahead of the competition.

The 13th edition of the Arabian Gulf Super Cup competition will be held under the slogan “Our Winter is Super”, which aligns with the “World's Coolest Winter” initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. The initiative is part of the UAE’s strategy for domestic tourism and its unified tourism identity, which marks the UAE’s first federal domestic tourism campaign.

The “Our Winter is Super” initiative comes in support of the federal tourism campaign, which targets various segments of the Emirati society, including citizens, residents and visitors and aims to promote domestic tourism in all regions of the UAE as a single tourist destination, while highlighting the features and characteristics of each emirate, rediscovering the UAE’s landmarks and attractions, and exploring the natural, geographical and historical treasures of the UAE.

The next few days will see the UAEPL launch a number of promotional campaigns for the Arabian Gulf Super Cup, including a trophy tour that will see the cup arrive in a number of touristic spots in the UAE.

This marks the second meeting between Sharjah and Shabab Al Ahli in the Arabian Gulf Super Cup, as they met in the previous edition which saw the King emerge winners on penalties.

The 2019 edition of the Arabian Gulf Super Cup was also held at the revamped Al Maktoum Stadium, which also hosted the competition twice before renovation, namely in 2008 and 2010.
