ADNOC Pro League Returns to Action with Tough Clashes

The ADNOC Pro League returns to action with tough clashes set to take place in matchweek 20 after the end of the international break in which our national team managed to beat South Korea 1-0 to set up a playoff clash against Australia in the World Cup qualifiers.

Matchweek 20 fixtures will be held over three days on April 3rd, 4th and 5th as each team looks to gain some ground between keeping pace with the league's leading teams or moving up the standings.

Sunday's action gets underway when Al Nasr welcome Sharjah for the 22:00 kick-off.

Ninth placed Al Nasr seek to make amends after being defeated in matchweek 19 by Bani Yas, while fourth-placed Sharjah are in search of their second consecutive league win after snatching a 2-1 victory over Ajman in matchweek 19.

The two teams have previously met 23 times in the league, with ten wins for Al Nasr and eight for Sharjah, while draws settled the other five encounters.

At the same time, the Al Jazira and Shabab Al Ahli derby will take place at Mohammad bin Zayed Stadium.

The Pride of Abu Dhabi seek to keep putting pressure on leaders Al Ain and runners up Al Wahda by securing their fourth win in a row, while Shabab Al Ahli look for taking a further step towards the top four.

The two teams clashed 25 times before with eleven victories for Shabab Al Ahli, compared to nine wins for Al Jazira, while draws decided the other five matches.

The games continue on Monday with three tough clashes taking place at 22:00.

Bottom side Emirates host second-placed Al Wahda with the former having no options other than winning to revive their hopes in avoiding relegation to the second division, while Al Wahda hope to heap pressure on leaders Al Ain with a win at Ras Al Khaimah.

The two teams have previously met on 17 occasions in the ADNOC Pro League, with eleven wins for Al Wahda, and two for Emirates, while draws settled the other four encounters.

The second match of the day sees Al Dhafra host Ajman at Hamdan bin Zayed Stadium.

Al Dhafra sit twelfth with fifteen points as they seek to secure a victory to guarantee a spot in the safe zone to avoid relegation, while Ajman are now eighth with 25 points, looking to compensate for their last defeat by Sharjah in matchweek 19.

The two sides played against each other 17 times before in the ADNOC Pro League as they equalled in terms of wins with five, while draws decided the other seven encounters.

The last match of the day sees Al Orooba welcome Ittihad Kalba at Fujairah Stadium, with the former in search of their second league win, while the latter will be trying to win to guarantee themselves a spot in the safe zone to avoid relegation.

Matchweek 20 concludes on Tuesday with two clashes taking place for the 22:00 kick-off.

ADNOC Pro League leaders Al Ain host Al Wasl at Hazza bin Zayed Stadium, in a game that is expected to be tough. Although Al Wasl are far from the title race, it will not be easy for Al Ain to defeat them.

The two teams have previously met on 25 occasions in the ADNOC Pro League, with seventeen wins for Al Ain, two for Al Wasl, and tied in other six matches.

The second and last match of the day sees Khorfakkan host Bani Yas at Saqr bin Mohammad al Qassimi Stadium.

Khorfakkan hope to pull off their first win over Bani Yas, as both teams clashed three times before with two wins for Bani Yas, and tied in the other match, which took place in the first half of the ongoing ADNOC Pro League edition.
