The UAE Pro League revealed on Sunday the winners of the Arabian Gulf League’s Best Monthly Awards for April and May, powered by Etisalat - the official sponsor of the Arabian Gulf League.
Following their impressive performances in the final four matchweeks of the league, champions Al Jazira dominated the awards for April and May, collecting all three accolades.
Abdullah Ramadan was named Player of the Month, and his teammate Ali Khaseif grabbed the Goalkeeper of the Month award. They were joined by their coach Marcel Keizer who was voted Coach of the Month.
The Al Jazira midfielder was recognized for his outstanding performances in the final four matchweeks of the season, which saw Al Jazira seal the league title. He beat off competition from his teammates Ali Mabkhout and Thulani Serero who came second and third respectively, while Sharjah’s Abdullah Ghanem and Bani Yas’s Gaston Suarez rounded off the top five.
Ali Khaseif pipped his rivals Fahad Al Dhanhani of Bani Yas and Sharjah’s Adel Al Hosani for the best goalkeeper award in April and May.
In turn, Dutch coach Marcel Keizer grabbed the Coach of the Month Award after winning the vote ahead of Shabab Al Ahli coach Mahdi Ali and Sharjah coach Abdulaziz Al Anberi who finished second and third, respectively.
The nominees are shortlisted each month based on statistics from global sports data company “OPTA”. The data cover the players’ performances in the Arabian Gulf League only, and fans get the opportunity to vote for their favorite candidates through the UAE Pro League official website and the Arabian Gulf League app.
