Al Wasl returned to winning ways with a valuable 2-0 victory over Bani Yas away from home in matchweek 14 of the Arabian Gulf League, which is held under the slogan “Together We Recover” in support of the country’s Covid-19 vaccination efforts.
Nasser Mahmoud opened the scoring for Al Wasl in the 22nd minute, as he received a well-placed through pass, beat his markers and rounded the keeper before tapping home to hand his side a 1-0 lead.
Ali Saleh doubled the guests’ lead six minutes before the break. The ball fell to the Al Wasl forward inside the box following a badly placed header by Bani Yas defence, and Saleh made no mistake firing it into the bottom corner of the net.
Al Wasl now have 20 points after earning their sixth win of the season. Meanwhile, Bani Yas remained on 26 points.
