Shabab Al Ahli continued their perfect start to the 2026-27 AFC Champions League Elite with a 2-1 away victory over Saudi Arabia's Al Ittihad at Alinma Stadium in Jeddah on Tuesday in Matchweek 2 of the West Region league phase.
Iranian striker Sardar Azmoun scored twice in the opening 16 minutes to secure Shabab Al Ahli's second consecutive victory and take their tally to six points from two matches.
Al Fursan made an excellent start, taking the lead in the seventh minute when Azmoun finished a well-worked move after Guilherme Bala created the opportunity.
Just nine minutes later, Azmoun doubled the advantage, breaking through the Al Ittihad defence before rounding goalkeeper Predrag Rajković and slotting the ball into the empty net.
The early double gave Shabab Al Ahli a commanding 2-0 lead, which they maintained until half-time.
Al Ittihad responded in the second half, with Colombian midfielder Richard Rios pulling a goal back in the 66th minute to reduce the deficit.
However, Shabab Al Ahli held on to their narrow advantage until the final whistle, securing an important away victory against the Saudi side.
The result extended Shabab Al Ahli's winning start to the competition following their 1-0 victory over Iran's Tractor in their opening match.
With six points from two games, Shabab Al Ahli strengthened their position in the West Region standings as they continued their push for a place in the knockout stage.
