Two goals in each half helped Khorfakkan register a famous 4-0 win against Al Nasr in matchweek 17 of the ADNOC Pro League at Saqr bin Mohammad Al Qasimi Stadium on Friday.
The hosts thought they had taken the lead midway through the opening half when Ismael Al Hammadi teed up Douglas Willian and the Brazilian saw his initial effort blocked by the defender before the follow up was smothered by Al Nasr goalkeeper Ahmed Shambih.
Two minutes before the break, the first goal of the afternoon arrived in Khorfakkan’s favour courtesy of Elierce Barboza after Raphael Guimaraes picked the ball up on the right wing and advanced into the penalty area before finding his fellow Brazilian to drill a low effort from the edge of the box and into the bottom corner.
There was still time for Khorfakkan to double their lead before the end of the half as a Shambih error saw his attempt to handle a cross ending with the ball falling for Aylton Boa Morte to tap into the empty net from point blank, registering his first ADNOC Pro League goal in his fourth appearance since joining the club.
The second half picked up precisely where its predecessor dropped off with another Shambih mistake allowing Khorfakkan to extend their lead two minutes after the restart as Willian’s side footed Guimaraes cut back between the legs of the Al Nasr goalkeeper for 3-0.
Guimaraes turned from creator to scorer, going for the spectacular to volley home Boa Morte's cross seven minutes after the hour-mark to complete the rout.
The win means Khorfakkan opened a nine-point gap clear off the relegation zone while Al Nasr’s tally froze at 22 points and the Dubai club could see themselves slip into the bottom half of the table by the end of the matchweek.
