Al Orooba deny Sharjah vital points in ADNOC Pro League

Former champions Sharjah continued with their woes as they dropped vital points against Al Orooba following a 2-2 draw in the eighth round of the UAE ADNOC Pro League, on Thursday.

Fretting from three successive defeats, including their failure to advance to the quarter-finals of the Pro League Cup last week, Sharjah’s woes of defending their lead showed very little signs of improvement under incoming coach Juan Carlos Fornos.

Brazilian Caio Lucas Fernandes gave Sharjah the lead in the very first minute off a Ben Malango pass only to see Kingsley Eduwo slide in unmarked in the seventh minute at the far post for the equaliser.

The travelling side regained their lead in the 22nd minute when Caio turned provider with a perfect ball that found skipper Shaheen Abdullah nodding in past Ibrahim Abdullah Al Kaabi on the Al Orooba goal.

The home team snatched a vital point in the 64th when Eduwo struck for the second time to cap his brace on the night.

The result kept Sharjah rooted in fifth place with 13 points, while Al Orooba retained their 13th spot with just four points to their name.
