The UAE Pro League announced the winners of the Arabian Gulf League’s Best Monthly Awards for January, powered by Etisalat, the official sponsor of the Arabian Gulf League, after the conclusion of the voting that commenced on Sunday, February 7th.
Ajman striker Modibo Maiga and his Egyptian coach Ayman Al Ramadi were voted January’s Player of the Month and Coach of the Month, respectively. Meanwhile, Sharjah’s Adel Al Hosani won the Goalkeeper of the Month award for January.
The Malian forward beat off competition from four other contenders, including Khorfakkan’s Ramon Lopes, Al Wahda’s Lee Myung-Joo, Abdulaziz Haikal of Shabab Al Ahli and Sharjah’s Igor Coronado.
The King’s keeper Adel Al Hosani won the Best Goalkeeper Award after edging his rivals Majed Naser from Shabab Al Ahli and Sultan Al Mantheri from Al Wasl.
The Coach of the Month Award went to Ajman’s Ayman Al Ramadi after beating off competition from Shabab Al Ahli coach Mahdi Ali and Al Wasl coach Odair Hellmann.
Winners will receive their awards ahead of their teams' respective games in matchweek 16 of the Arabian Gulf League, scheduled to commence on Saturday, February 13th.
The nominees are shortlisted each month based on statistics from the global sports data company “OPTA”. The data cover the players’ performances in the Arabian Gulf League only and fans get the opportunity to vote for their favorite candidates through the UAE Pro League official website and the Arabian Gulf League app on mobile phones and tablets.
