Laba Kodjo's brace helped Al Ain to secure a 2-0 comfortable away win over Hatta in matchweek 2 of the ADNOC Pro League at Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Stadium on Saturday.
Al Ain wasted no time in unveiling their offensive prowess, as their dominance was quickly translated into goals, with Laba Kodjo opening the scoring ten minutes into the match when he picked up the ball outside the box before firing a low effort into the bottom corner of the net with a smart finish.
The Togolese forward grabbed his brace and sealed the victory for his side in the 26th minute after he timed his run perfectly to head in Bandar Al Ahbabi's cross.
The referee disallowed a goal from Kodjo in the 40th minute, citing offside, but Al Ain continued to press forward, maintaining their strong offensive presence.
Al Ain's dominance extended into the second half. Despite Hatta's attempts to find an equalizer, Al Ain effectively held the reins tightly, creating multiple dangerous scoring opportunities in the process. Hatta's defense and goalkeeper remained vigilant, but couldn't prevent the loss, leaving the score unchanged until the final whistle.
The win means that Al Ain sit top of the ADNOC Pro League standings with 6 points, while Hatta are bottom with no points.
