Ittihad Kalba and Al Nasr played out a thrilling 3-3 draw at Ittihad Kalba Stadium in matchweek 8 of the Arabian Gulf League, which is being held amid patriotic atmosphere as it coincides with the UAE's 49th National Day.
Kalba striker Junior Fernandes broke the deadlock in the 8th minute and both sides failed to add more goals in the first half, as the home side went the break with a 1-0 lead.
Al Nasr fought back and made a strong comeback in the beginning of the second half, when Emirati striker Sebastian Tagliabue netted two quick-fire goals in the 47th and 55th minutes to hand the guests the lead.
Kalba needed two minutes only to draw the scoreline, as Togolese forward Peniel Mlapa netted his side’s second of the night.
The final 30 minutes of the game were full of excitement, as Dutch striker Brandley Kuwas netted the third to make it 3-2 for Al Nasr. Kalba, however, refused to give up when Mansour Al Bloushi scored a late goal in injury time to grab a point for the home side.
Al Nasr now sit third and are tied on 17 points with second-placed Al Jazira, four above Ittihad Kalba.
