The UAE Pro League, in cooperation with The River of Life Fund, one of the Emirates Red Crescent's health initiatives, organised a special experience for young Zayed Mustafa Al Fahadi ahead of the ADNOC Pro League Matchweek 8 clash between Sharjah and Shabab Al Ahli.
Zayed was invited to walk onto the pitch alongside the match officials and take a ceremonial kick-off before the game, creating a memorable moment for him and his family.
The initiative aimed to offer Zayed encouragement and emotional support as he continues his medical treatment and rehabilitation, while giving him an opportunity to experience the excitement of professional football.
Zayed has cerebral palsy caused by oxygen deprivation at birth, which has affected his movement and speech.
In 2024, he underwent surgery to release tendons in his foot and address nerve-related difficulties, followed by an intensive programme of physiotherapy and speech therapy.
He underwent another operation in February 2026, involving surgery on his lower-leg bone and the insertion of medical rods to improve his mobility.
Zayed continues to make gradual progress through rehabilitation, supported by his family and medical team.
His appearance on the pitch offered a welcome moment of happiness and encouragement during his treatment journey.
Through this initiative, the UAE Pro League and Emirates Red Crescent sought to provide meaningful support to Zayed and his family, demonstrating how football can bring people together and make a positive difference beyond the pitch.
