Sharjah Reach ADIB Cup's Quarters with 3-1 Aggregate Win over Khorfakkan

Sharjah advanced to the quarter-final of the ADIB Cup on Saturday after pulling off a 3-1 aggregate win over Khorfakkan.

Olaroiu Cozmin's men took the advantage in gameweek one with a 1-0 win, before proving that they deserve a place in the last eight with a 2-1 in gameweek two.

Sharjah were the dominant side from the opening minutes, pressing high, while Khorfakkan showed resilience and preserved their clean sheet till the 26th minute.

Caio Lucas should have found the breakthrough through a brilliant diving header, which was parried out by goalkeeper Ahmed Hamdan Alhosani after six minutes.

Alhosani was the hero again in the 7th minute as he managed to maintain the scoreline at goalless after showing a brilliant save to Shaheen Abdalla's header.

Sharjah's relentless pressure finally paid off following a nice teamwork play from treble Caio Lucas, Luan Pereira, and M. Ben Alarbi, as the former picked a sensational through ball from Pereira and then squared it to Lucas to finish into an empty net.

The 30-year-old winger cemented the home side's lead after latching on a world-class through pase from Luan Pereira to drill the ball into the bottom corner with an excellent right-footed effort in the 51st minute.

Three minutes before the hour-time mark, Lourency Do pulled one back for Khorfakkan after successfully converting from a penalty spot. Lourency was unlucky after reducing the deficit as his left-footed effort hit the crossbar, and the equalizer was lost.
