The UAE Pro League has announced the December winners of the Arabian Gulf League’s Best Monthly Awards, powered by Etisalat, the official sponsor of the Arabian Gulf League, after the conclusion of the 48-hour voting that commenced on Sunday, January 10.
Al Jazira midfielder Abdullah Ramadan and his Dutch coach Marcel Keizer were voted December’s Player of the Month and Coach of the Month, respectively, for the second month in a row. Meanwhile, Bani Yas’ Fahad Al Dhanhani won the Goalkeeper of the Month award for December.
Ramadan beat off competition from four other contenders, including Sharjah’s Otabek Shukurov, Al Nasr’s Ryan Mendes, Khorfakkan’s Ramon Lopes and Al Wahda’s Paul-José M'Poku.
The Sky Blues keeper Fahad Al Dhanhani, who conceded one goal only during December, won the Best Goalkeeper Award after edging his rivals Jamal Abdullah from Ittihad Kalba and Ali Khasif from Al Jazira.
The Coach of the Month Award went to Al Jazira’s Marcel Keizer, after beating off competition from Sharjah’s Emirati coach Abdulaziz Al Anberi and Bani Yas’ Romanian coach Daniel Isăilă.
Winners will receive their awards ahead of their teams' respective games in matchweek 13 of the Arabian Gulf League, scheduled to commence on Friday, January 15.
The nominees are shortlisted each month based on statistics from global sports data company “OPTA”. The data cover the players’ performances in the Arabian Gulf League only and fans get the opportunity to vote for their favorite candidates through the UAE Pro League official website and the Arabian Gulf League app on mobile phones and tablets.
