Sharjah defeated ADNOC Pro League leaders Al Ain 2-0 on Saturday at Sharjah Stadium in week 13 of the competition.
It took Sharjah only 11 minutes to open the scoring when Caio Lucas met Marcus Vinicius' cross with a powerful header into the back of the net to make it 1-0 with his fifth league goal against his former club.
Seven minutes later, midfielder Luan Pereira cemented his side's lead when he nodded the ball in from a very close range as his effort hit the bar before getting into the net.
Sharjah goalkeeper Adel Al Hosani made a brilliant save to Mohammed Shaker's powerful header before the end of the first half to maintain his side's lead.
Despite a number of attacks at both ends in the second half, including a late Cristian Guanca free-kick that hit the upright, Sharjah secured the win, raising their tally to 23 points and closing the gap on the leaders to seven points.
