Al Jazira Set Up Fiery Quarterfinal Clash agaisnt Al Ain in ADIB Cup

Al Jazira advanced to the quarterfinals of the ADIB Cup, where they will face their rivals Al Ain, despite a 2-1 loss to Al Bataeh in Gameweek Two of the competition. The match, held at Khalid bin Mohammed Stadium, saw Al Jazira edge through on a 4-3 aggregate after winning Gameweek One 3-1 at home.

 

Ramon Mierez opened the scoring for Al Jazira just before halftime, converting a penalty in the 45+4 minute. Al Bataeh mounted a comeback in the second half, with Anatole Bertrand equalizing in the 84th minute, followed by a late goal from Antonio Fialho in the 98th minute. However, their 2-1 win wasn’t enough to overturn the aggregate score, allowing Al Jazira to advance.

 

Al Jazira's upcoming clash with Al Ain promises to be a thriller. Al Ain secured their quarterfinal spot by defeating Kalba 6-3 on aggregate.

 

Al Jazira broke the deadlock just before halftime when Ramón Mierez converted a penalty after a foul inside the box, giving his side a 1-0 lead going into the break.

 

In the second half, Al Bataeh pressed hard for an equalizer, creating several chances. They were finally rewarded in the 84th minute when Anatole Bertrand headed in a cross to level the score at 1-1.

 

Antonio Fialho then scored from a corner in the 98th minute to give Al Bataeh a 2-1 lead on the night, but it wasn’t enough to secure their place in the next round as Al Jazira's first-leg advantage held firm.
