Voting is now open | UAE Pro League announces February Best Awards nominees

The UAE Pro League has announced the nominees for the Arabian Gulf League Best monthly awards, powered by Etisalat, the official sponsor of the Arabian Gulf League, in the Best Player, Best Goalkeeper, and Best Coach categories for the month of February, which aligns with the UAEPL’s strategy of motivating outstanding players and improving fan interaction to further improve the competition.

The shortlist for February’s Best Player award includes Al Jazira duo Ali Mabkhout and Thulani Serero, Shabab Al Ahli’s Carlos Eduardo, Ryan Mendes of Al Nasr, and Bani Yas’ Joao Pedro.

The players were nominated based on their performance and contribution with their teams in February. Mabkhout maintained his fine run of form as he helped Al Jazira move to the top of the standings and raised his tally to 17 goals at the top of the goal scoring charts. In addition, his South African teammate Serero was a key player in Al Jazira’s midfield in February, helping the team claim three wins and a draw.

Meanwhile, Eduardo inspired Shabab Al Ahli’s comeback as they now sit fifth on 32 points after earning three wins and a draw in the past month. He competes against Mendes, who netted three goals with Al Nasr in February and completed the most successful dribbles (62) in the season. Joao Pedro wraps up the list after guiding Bani Yas to third place and scoring a goal in each of his side’s four league games in February, which put him third on the goal scoring charts with a total of 14 goals.

In the Best Goalkeeper category, Al Jazira’s Ali Khaseif, who kept two clean sheets in February is joined by Al Nasr’s Ahmed Shambieh and Fahad Al Dhanhani of Bani Yas.

Shabab Al Ahli coach Mahdi Ali is nominated for the Best Coach award after the team’s impressive and balanced performance in February. He is contending for the award against Al Jazira coach Marcel Keizer who guided his team to the top of the standing and Al Wasl coach Odair Hellmann who remain undefeated in the league in February.

Voting for the three categories has opened on Thursday at noon on the Arabian Gulf League website and continues for 72 hours. After which, winners will be announced through the official UAE PL social media channels.
