Al Wahda and Bani Yas played out an exciting 2-2 draw in their derby at Al Nahyan Stadium during Matchweek 4 of the ADNOC Pro League. Both teams earned a point, placing them level with 7 points each, with Al Wahda in fourth and Bani Yas in sixth on the table.
Bani Yas started the match with aggressive intent, launching several attacks while Al Wahda struggled to find their footing. This dominance paid off in the 35th minute when Youssoufou Niakate opened the scoring, converting a well-placed assist from Arnaud Lusamba, giving the visitors the lead.
The goal seemed to ignite Al Wahda’s offense, and they responded by ramping up the pressure. Their efforts paid off deep into first-half stoppage time, when Omar Khribin netted a crucial equalizer in the 5th minute of added time, making it 1-1. This was Khribin’s ninth goal in his last nine ADNOC Pro League matches, continuing his remarkable form.
Al Wahda carried their momentum into the second half, and it didn’t take long for them to strike again. In the 51st minute, Abdullah Hamad scored a well-taken goal after an assist from Ruben Filipe, giving the home side a 2-1 lead.
Bani Yas, however, refused to give up and made tactical substitutions to turn the game around. The introduction of Juan Bauza proved decisive, as he equalized in the 64th minute with a stunning free-kick, making it 2-2. This free-kick goal mirrored Yousef Jaber’s famous strike against Al Wahda back in 2014, marking a rare coincidence exactly 10 years later.
