Khrbin's Brace Grants Al Wahda 2-1 Win over Al Wasl in ADNOC Pro League

Omar Khrbin made the difference for Al Wahda in a 2-1 home win over Al Wasl in matchweek 17 of the ADNOC Pro League at Al Nahyan Stadium on Saturday.

The hosts needed 26 minutes to open the scoring after some great teamwork between the Syrian international forward and Brazilian forward Joao Pedro with a frenzy ensuing in the six yard box as the ball bounced back and forth before the former slotted home.

Five minutes before the teams headed to dressing rooms for the break, Al Nasr goalkeeper Al Balooshi made a stunning save to deny Ismaeil Matar who expertly executed a free-kick.

17 minutes after the restart, Al Wasl were awarded a penalty kick after Michel Araujo was pulled down in the box.

Gilberto stepped up and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to restore parity.

The visitors were given another penalty in the 69th minute after Ali Saleh was brought down inside the box, and the Brazilian stepped up yet again, but he watched as his effort was parried out by Alshamsi.

Just over a quarter of an hour from time, Mohamed Almenhali sent an excellent cross inside the penalty area, which was met by Khrbin after Adrien Silva initially missed it, with the Syrian international launching a powerful right-footed shot into the top left corner of the net to seal the victory.

The home side maintained their position in second place in the ADNOC Pro League table with 36 points, while the visitors remained 8th with 22 points.
