Four matches conclude matchweek 9 action

After an exciting first day of matchweek 9, the action resumes on Friday with four other clashes, headlined by the Abu Dhabi derby between Al Jazira and Al Wahda.

Shabab Al Ahli kick off the action when they host Al Dhafra at Rashid Stadium at 6pm. The hosts stopped Sharjah’s march with a 1-1 draw in matchweek 8 and currently have 13 points. On the other hand, Al Dhafra fell to a defeat to Kalba and a draw with Al Wahda in the past two matchweeks to have their tally stand at 11 points.

At the same time, Hatta will be facing Bani Yas at Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Stadium. Hatta are in a dire need for a win as they linger at the bottom of the standings with one point only. Meanwhile, Bani Yas have 13 points and will aim to build upon their recent big 4-1 win over Al Ain in the league.

Al Jazira will take on Al Wahda at Mohammad bin Zayed Stadium at 9pm. The Pride of Abu Dhabi, who have 17 points, will be looking to extend their winning streak to four games to keep chasing Sharjah on top. Meanwhile, the Clarets will be searching for a win after losing to Al Ain and drawing with Al Dhafra in their past two games to collect a total of 14 points.

At the same time, Khorfakkan will take on Ittihad Kalba at Saqr bin Mohammad Al Qassimi Stadium. After beating Hatta in matchweek 8, Khorfakkan, who currently have five points, will be looking to keep the momentum alive and get their second win of the season. Kalba will also be looking to maintain their good run after collecting 10 points in their past four games.
