Pro League Cup Semi-Final Second Leg Preview

This year’s Pro League Cup finalists will be decided on Tuesday with the second leg of the semi-finals taking place, but who will make it to the final? Here is a look at what’s to come as Al Wahda welcome Shabab Al Ahli at Al Nahyan Stadium at 17:45, before Al Ain host Al Jazira at Hazza bin Zayed Stadium at 20:15.

Al Wahda vs Shabab Al Ahli

Shabab Al Ahli secured a hard-fought 1-0 win over Al Wahda in the first leg of the UAE Pro League Cup semi-final at Rashid Stadium.

The five-time Pro League Cup champions are slight favourites to seal their spot in the final to add the sixth title, being unbeaten in their last ten matches in this competition.

Meanwhile two-time winners Al Wahda will enter the game with high hopes to secure an important win on Tuesday and book their ticket in the final.

The Abu Dhabi based side won their last three home semi-finals in the Pro League Cup.

What makes this a special clash is that it combines the two most successful sides in the competition in terms of match wins, with a total of 50 victories for Shabab Al Ahli and 49 for Al Wahda.

The two teams have previously met in nine matches in the League Cup, with four wins for Shabab Al Ahli, and three for Al Wahda, while the draw settled the other two matches.

Shabab Al Ahli played against Al Wahda in the 2008-09 Pro League Cup semi-finals when the latter won 3-2 on aggregate to face Al Ain in the final and finish runners-up.

Al Ain vs Al Jazira

The second semi-final between Al Ain and Al Jazira will be open to all possibilities as the two teams enter the game having played out a 1-1 draw in the first leg at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium.

The two teams are the inaugural winners of the competition, as Al Ain were crowned champions in 2009, while Al Jazira claimed the title in 2010.

The Abu Dhabi rivals have previously met in 11 matches in the Pro League Cup, with five wins for Al Ain compared to four for Al Jazira and two draws. Al Ain scored 12 goals compared to 18 goals for Al Jazira.

This is the second encounter between the two sides in the Pro League Cup semi-finals after 2008-09 when Al Ain secured a 4-1 home win at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium, before repeating a 1-0 victory at Khalifa bin Zayed Stadium, to reach the final against Al Wahda.
